Thanh Phuoc Port: paving the logistic way for Binh Duong

(VLR) Being an industrial province and located in the key economic zone of the South, having the amount of import-export cargo with value of over $15 billion USD, Binh Duong has long been considered as one of the logistics-potential province in the country. At the present, with the condition that the road network has been overloaded, a need of using river ports for Binh Duong region has become real and pressing.

For the requirements, investors have had to overcome difficulties, particularly in land clearance, investing capital, human resource and in finding customers for the ports. From determination and efforts, Thanh Phuoc- the first river port of Binh Duong province- has been put in operation in May 9, 2012, opening opportunities in logistics sector.

PAVING THE WAY

Founding shareholders of Thanh Phuoc Port are large businesses with reputation as BICONSI-Binh Duong Construction Consultant Investment Joint Stock Company, Nam Tan Uyen Joint Stock Corporation (NTC) and U&I Logistics. Thanh Phuoc Port is a domestic port level 3, constructed in international standard, belonging to 3rd generation in classification of international modern port system.

Thanh Phuoc Port is located South East of Binh Duong Province, alongside Dong Nai River and along DT 747A Road (Tan Luong Hamlet, Thanh Phuoc Commune, Tan Uyen District, Binh Duong Province). The port has its advantages in connecting regions via provincial main road, having potential in developing logistics.

The establishment of Thanh Phuoc Port is the opening of a new waterway, creating better infrastructure, helping the transportation of import-export goods and thus, cutting cost for businesses. In addition, the port can playing a role of a supporting port for other deep-water ports, increasing capacity and helping solving the congestion at HCMC’s gateways on land.

The port has been put in operation in Phase I with tow berth of 124m in length, 2 Liebherr cranes with loading/unloading capacity of 312.500tons/year, warehouse system, a storage of 37,000m2, and equipments… with the total investment of 220 billion dongs. The port is able to receive vessels and barges of 1.000-2.000 tons/year. This is a big expectation for a small commune with agricultural structure of 65%.

Especially, in June 30th when the document by the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province that stops the operation of traditional and unlicensed kilns comes to effect, 14 kilns of the kinds will have to stop operating. The activities of the port will be decessive factor to the economy of the commune.

At the present, Thanh Phuoc Port is working with shipping companies with large number of customers in the region that will be able to operate in the port soon as Bien Dong, Vinafco, Vscico, Vinalines Container (domestic route of HCMC-Hai Phong), Hanjun, Wanhai, Maerks Lines, MOL…, making prerequisite for the port’s operations in the future and paving the way for logistics service in Binh Duong province.

COMPLETE A LOGISTICS SUPPLY CHAIN

Thanh Phuoc Port is constructed in international standard on the area of 53ha, including 16 berths with total investment capital of 1.450 billion dong, divided into two stages. The 1st Phase is from 2010 to 2014 on the area of 25ha with total investment capital of 780 billion dongs, with loading/unloading capacity of 2.5 million tons/year. The 2nd Phase is from 2014 to 2018 on the area of 28ha with total investment capital of 610 billion dongs. with loading/unloading capacity up to 5 million tons/year when finished.

Mr. Mai Huu Tin, Chairman of the Board of Adnimistration - General Director of Unigroup, one of three investors in Thanh Phuoc port formally stated: Thanh Phuoc Port play a role in activities of U&I Forwarding Transport Joint-Stock Company. The port’s activities are extended parts in the supply chain that U&I are trying to complete, providing customers with most perfect services.

Although the road network in Binh Duong is fairly good, the province authority has had a plan to expand connecting roads from provincial industrial parks to the port to enhance the performance of the port, that is, DT 747A Road. Tao Luc 2B Road connecting to South Tan Uyen Industry Park has been newly invested for future trading opportunities.

“However, Cau Genh (Ghenh Bridge) with its low navigational clearance is the biggest obstacle”, Mr. Tin showed his concern. In order to reach the best effects, it is required to use barges of 2,000 tons on waterway from Thanh Phuoc to other deep-water ports. There should be co-operations between the Central Government and Dong Nai province.

Besides the main function of loading/unloading general cargo and container for import-export activities, there have been other investments in added services as warehousing, distribution center, empty container yard, container repair, customs services and transportation services both on land and on waterway, making a perfect supply chain.

The establishment of Thanh Phuoc Port also opens opportunities to a stable economic-social development, to attract invesments that changes the apperance of the commune and of the province in the process of industrialization and modernization in Binh Duong province.

Average transportation time for cargo/containers by barges from the port to Dong Nai port is 1.5 hour; to Cat Lai port, 7 hours; to Saigon ports, 7.5 hours; to SPCT, 8 hours; and ports in Cai Mep region, 15 hours.

Ô tô nhập vào Việt Nam tăng mạnh trong nửa đầu tháng 5

Theo thống kê sơ bộ của Tổng cục Hải quan, trong nửa đầu tháng 5 vừa qua, đã có 7.611 xe nhập khẩu vào Việt Nam, trị giá 163,4 triệu USD. Như vậy, kể từ đầu năm 2019 đến nay đã có 58.295 ôtô nguyên chiếc nhập khẩu vào Việt Nam, đạt kim ngạch hơn 1,289 tỷ USD.
