SNP and VIMC Cooperate to Create a Breakthrough in Maritime Transport and Logistics

On the morning of July 20, 2024, in Da Nang City, Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) and Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) held a signing ceremony for a comprehensive cooperation agreement.

SNP is Vietnam's leading enterprise in port operation, logistics services, transportation, and marine economy sectors. SNP is currently developing a diverse ecosystem connected with logistics centers, inland container depots (ICD), gateway ports, deep-water ports, and has strong ties with import-export businesses, shipping lines, state management agencies, and associations. SNP focuses on sustainable development, moving towards a digital economy, green economy, and the use of clean energy.

Attending the ceremony were Colonel Nguyen Nang Toan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of SNP; Le Anh Son, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VIMC; Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan, General Director of SNP; Mr. Nguyen Canh Tinh, General Director of VIMC; along with other leaders and representatives of the functional agencies and member companies of both corporations.

VIMC is a core and key enterprise of the Vietnam maritime industry, mainly engaged in maritime transportation, port operations, and maritime services. VIMC is one of the leading companies in opening up cooperation and international integration, providing maritime services on a global scale, and making significant contributions to the development of Vietnam's maritime economy. Since 2020, VIMC has operated under the joint-stock company model.

During the ceremony, the leaders of the two corporations discussed several issues of mutual interest and agreed on specific areas of cooperation, including:

  1. Optimizing National Port and Logistics Capacity: Creating a unified, modern maritime and logistics ecosystem that significantly enhances the capacity to receive and handle goods, thus reducing congestion and creating a competitive advantage for Vietnam's ports.
  2. Comprehensive Logistics Solutions: Providing comprehensive logistics solutions, optimizing costs by offering door-to-door logistics services for customers.
  3. Developing the National Fleet: Assigning VIMC Container Transportation Joint Stock Company (VIMC Lines) and Tan Cang Shipping Joint Stock Company (Tan Cang Shipping - TCS) to research cooperation on opening international container service routes, leveraging the national maritime potential and advantages, and enhancing the capacity of the national fleet.
  4. Human Resource Development: Cooperating to improve the quality of human resources in port operation and logistics through joint training and human resource development initiatives.

In their speeches at the ceremony, the leaders of the two corporations expressed their hope that with the active participation from the leadership of both corporations to the member companies, this collaboration would create a breakthrough in the maritime transportation and logistics sectors in Vietnam, thereby promoting the development of export-import activities and the national economy as a whole. Under the witness of the delegates, the leaders of the two corporations signed and exchanged the memorandum of understanding for comprehensive cooperation, marking a new chapter of cooperation between Vietnam's two leading enterprises in the maritime economy sector.
