Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park Group (VSIP Group) has kicked off the CSR Weekend – a platform dedicated to social responsibility and community development – across various locations in Vietnam, on May 28 - 29. In line with the theme, ‘Together We Grow Communities’, the CSR Weekend reflects the company’s efforts over the past 20 years to bring stakeholders together to make a meaningful difference to communities across Vietnam.

At this occasion, the provincial authorities, shareholders Sembcorp Development and Becamex, tenants and employees from VSIP have pledged their collective and continued effort to address distinct needs across a number of locations in Vietnam. These include:

Binh Duong: Building new toilets, and renovating school facilities for Tan Phuoc Khanh A Primary School and Tan Binh Primary School.

Bac Ninh: Organizing educational talk on road safety for students, and donating helmets to 200 students at Dai Dong Primary School.

Hai Phong: Organizing a walkathon to encourage blood donation to the Hai Phong Center for Blood Transfusion and Hematology.

Quang Ngai: Setting up a library for Tinh Ha Primary School and upgrading the existing facilities of three primary schools located in Son Tinh District. Each school will receive 1,212 books from literature to science to help promote a reading culture among school children.

Hai Duong: Cash donation to 81 chronically ill patients at three hospitals in Hai Duong.

Nghe An: The construction of new toilets for students at Hung Tay Kindergarten, and domestic water purification systems with water towers for four schools through the Sembcorp-VSIP Water Initiative.

“Helping communities grow is always at the heart of what we do, and will continue to be our guiding light for the future. To celebrate VSIP’s 20th year with Vietnam, we bring together VSIP partners and employees, provincial authorities and tenants across locations, to address unique needs of communities around us. As we grow, we want to ensure that communities also grow, and can have a brighter future to look forward to,” said Nguyen Phu Thinh, General Director of Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park J.V. Co. Ltd.

Over the last 20 years, more than 430 tenant companies and their employees have joined hands with VSIP Group to engage in sustainable initiatives such as the annual VSIP Charity Day, to raise funds for the community, volunteer to renovate school infrastructure and help improve building facilities, set up clean water systems for schools and local villages through the Sembcorp - VSIP Water Initiative, expand learning opportunities for students through libraries and educational scholarships, provide free medical consultation through the community clinic, and support homes for disadvantaged sections of community, among other activities, with a commitment to ensure that communities continue to benefit and progress as businesses grow.

A reflection of the strong relationship and joint commitment between Singapore and Vietnam to empower local communities and the local economy in Vietnam, VSIP Group has a key focus on helping transform the lives of community, and to contribute to inclusive development outcomes across Vietnam. The partnership with Singapore also brings in a focus on best practices aimed at furthering sustainability as a key business imperative, which not only create economic value and growth, but brings long-term benefits to all stakeholders.
