Dong Nai port: 30 years of "Serving and developing"

(VLR) In 30 years of operation, Dong Nai Port JSC., (PDN) has contributed in the increase of import-export productivity of the home province and the Southern Key Economic Zone as well. PDN has been confidently accompanying its partners and customers in the journey towards large sea, together building the stronger logistics and port-exploiting sector of Vietnam.

Favorable geographic location

According to the plan of developing the logistics service sector in Dong Nai to 2025, vision to 2030, a logistics center network will be founded to meet the needs from production and cargo flows in the country and the import-export needs from Dong Nai and the Southern Key Economic Zone. Efficient exploiting the logistics service market with focus on logistics outsourcing services, integrated and synchronous package service and 3PL service to push up production and develop business by optimizing cost and increase value added for enterprises’ cargo and service. Dong Nai Port has been recognize as a chain in the provincial logistics system in particular and in the regional logistics in general. The port plays a very important role in assisting transactions from all related sides in supply chains.

In term of geographical location, Dong Nai border provinces with active economy as HCMC, Binh Duong, Vung Tau and is a place where important key routes go through as HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway, National Road 1, National Road 51, National Road 20 and the North-South railroad... In addition, Dong Nai River system is convenient for developing waterway development with systems of river ports and ICDs...

Located in Vung Tau intersection, Dong Nai Port is a gateway for import-export goods in Dong Nai and Dong nai’s surrounding Northern provinces to large seaports in HCMC (ports of Cat Lai, VICT, SPCT) and international ports in BR-VT (on the river of Thi Vai-Cai Mep). Therefore, Dong Nai Port has become a very important factor that helps Dong Nai to make a system of modern logistic services that meet need of cargo and material transport from seaports to industrial parks and back.

Modern equipment and facilities

PDN was founded in 1989 when there were remarkable changes in Vietnam economy. In one-third of the century, PDN includes 2 international trading port areas: Long Binh Tan Port and Go Dau Port. The total area is 727,000m2 with 08 berths-the total length is over 1,270m, enabling to receive vessels of up to 30,000DWT. The port is strategically important in term of geographical position: a transport hub of the South key economic zones of HCMC-Dong Nai-Ba Ria-Vung Tau- Binh Duong. With its convenient waterway and transport connection system, PDN is the gateway for the needs of transport import-export cargo for enterprises in the province and other provinces in the Southeastern, the Southern Central and the Southern Tay Nguyen. PDN has kept growing: gradually improving its infrastructures and equipment to provide its customers professional and efficient services.

At the current, Long Binh Tan area is around 178,000m2, including 02 berths with the total length of 244m that enable to receive vessels of 5,000DWT. The main operating activities is exploiting containers, general cargo, and warehousing services... Area for cargon containers and empty ones is 112,000m2, the warehouse system has an area of 23,000m2 for lease and for cargo packing/withdrawing service.

Go Dau Port has an area of 549,400m2, including 6 berths with the total length of over 1.026m that enable to receive vessels of 30,000DWT. Its main operating activities is general stevedoring and warehousing services. In additions, Go Dau Port has been equipped with mordern equipment to receive vessels of 30,000DWT: Macgregor rail crane with the loading capacity of 40 tons and other stevedoring equipment, which helps to save expenses in service supply chain to serve increasing needs of stevedoring and transport from customers.

In 2019 with the orientation to become a logistics center for the Southeastern, PDN is completing announcement procedures for A3 berth (30,000DWT load reduction) and B3 berth (30,000DWT load reduction) at the beginning of the year, and investing in the berth 5 of 30,000DWT and other equipment in Go Dau Port. Expanding 50m of berth, and leveling assigned surface in Long Binh Tan Port will be completed for receiving cargo from ICDs in HCMC when they are removed from the downtown. At the same time, exploiting new cargo sources in surrounding industrial parks to meet increasing needs of stevedoring will help customers to save cost and time when using the services.

Confident in "Your companion to move forward"

Catching up the trend of the economy and having chosen a good way to go, PDN’s business ativities have had a remarkable growths for many years. Especially, the revenue in 2018 reached VND 670,953- an increase of 27.7% year-over-year and an increase or 24% to the assigne targets. General cargo stevedoring surpassed over 6.4m tons, container cargo stevedoring reached 673,000TEU. The profit after tax in 2018 reached VND 111,089m- a surpass of 45.2% year-over-year and a surpass of 35.6% to the assigned target.

To maintain the growth, PDN confidently set the target for 2019: the total revenue reaches VND 694bn and the profit after tax reaches VND 116.1bn. According to the estimation, in the first 6 months of 2019, general cargo stevedoring is 3,152m tons, container cargo is 345,000TEUs with the total revenue of VND 336bn - 107% year-over-year. Another targets are going on developing the brand of PDN, integrating logistics services including waterway transport, road transport, air transport, developing assisting services in order to provide customers with comprehensive integrated logistics services nationwide, expanding markets with the image of a trusted brand and developing local and international transpost fee selling services.

The year of 2019 marked the milestone of 30 years of developing. Although the time is not long compared to development history of an enterprise, PDN achievements have not only affirmed the growth of the brand PDN but also been the proof of PDN’s accompanying with its partners and customers: providing optimizing logistics solutions to them and contributing to developments of the social community. In the years to come-with unexpected changes from local and international economy, there will be no small impacts to business environment of various sectors. But PDN is going to overcome difficulties and challenges to achieve its targets of developments – making a stronger ship of PDN ready for a journey to the large sea.
