Logistics enterprises facing challenges of the pandemic...
The outbreaks of the COVID-19 pandemic with many complicated and prolonged developments are truly a difficult “test” for the Vietnamese economy as well as the business community’s ability to cope with the strong impacts on production activities and the business environment.
Logistics and port operators are not an exception when the supply chain of import and export is interrupted, cargo circulation and transport is suspended, especially during the time of social distancing when regulations on pandemic control among localities are still different, leading to more procedures and logistics costs; production is interrupted; Shortage of laborers; Workers’ health, morale and productivity are significantly affected; International trade suffers and declines; Sea freight rates increase sharply and there has been a serious shortage of containers. Over the past time, more than 60% of logistics service enterprises have had production shrinkage and a sharp decrease in revenue.
However, the business community and international organizations still believe and appreciate the development potential of Vietnam’s logistics market, when there is drastic direction and joint effort from the State, Government, agencies, organizations, local authorities and especially the support from Vietnamese business community to have many timely and flexible solutions, showing a strong resistance to the effects of the pandemic to maintain the domestic supply chain as well as cargo import and export.
