Con Dao is one of twenty one national tourism zones of Vietnam, which has also been chosen by the famous Lonely Planet (England) one of ten best islands in the world. Besides the historical prison area of Con Dao, it is also recognized as a paradise for relaxation and nature discovery. The “Hell on Earth” in the past has turned to be an ideal place for nature lovers and tourists now.
Con Dao is favored by the nature with coral reef, beds of sea grass and mangrove swamp, making it a beautiful colorful painting – the blue of sea and sky, the green of forests – the painting of a paradise in the tropical island.
It is amazing to hike through the primitive forest, to enjoy the feeling of being in the nature, where thick foliage seems to hide sounds of birds singing. It is more amazing when you happen to see some rare wild animals on the way of hiking through the forest, crossing the stream, or climbing up to Mount Thanh… You seems to be in a journey to find the beauty of nature.
Besides Con Dao, there are also 15 islands around. And there are ecological tours to the islands all year round. During the 20-minute boat trip from Con Dao to Hon Tai, tourists can see Con Son Bay, Ca Map Cape (Shark Cape) and other small islands.
Besides, Hon Bay Canh is 12km from Con Dao, or Hon Tre, 60km away are ideal islands for tourist to see the tortoise sanctuary, to see tortoise laying eggs or to see coral reef under water. Or they can see the mangrove swamp in Hon Bay Canh, see the Xe Tang crabs finding food. The boat trip to Hon Tre is another interesting experience when they can see Con Son Bay, Lo Voi Cape, Dat Doc Beach, Ben Dam, Ca Map Cape… or Tinh Yeu Mount.
Hon Cau is another island having fresh water like Con Dao. There are fruit gardens grown by prisoners from the time of French colony. It is also a place of tropical rain forest with specific wild animals, especially Con Dao black squirrels… it is also the place where the former Prime Minister Pham Van Dong was kept as a prisoner.
Hon Tre Nho and Hon Trung are two offshore bird gardens of Con Dao National Park. Stepping on the islands, tourists can see thousands of birds flying and hearing their alarming sounds as they see strangers. Nicoba doves, Gam Ghi Trang and Dien Mat Xanh are specific birds only found in Con Dao.

Dam Tre, So Ray ecological forest, Ca Map Cape, Bai Nhat, Thanh Gia Mountain are places that tourists should not miss. Each has its distinctive beauty.
