On the 20th anniversary of establishment the relationship between Vietnam and Republic of Korea (ROK), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (BR-VT) province held Vietnam-ROK Cultural Week as a response to the year of friendship between Vietnam and ROK. Many cultural and sport events were hold to encourage business promotions and investment activities, to maintain the relationships between the two countries in general and between BR-VT and Pohang City, Incheon in particular.
NINE-ACTIVITY OF VIETNAM-ROK CULTURAL FESTIVAL IN BR-VT
The Vietnam-ROK Cultural Week was hold from Sep 15th to Sep 23rd, 2012 in Ba Ria and Vung Tau cities, including many economical-social activities and other sport, food and beverage, cultural and arts ones in the Korean community living and working in the area of BR-VT. Many cities in Korea has been twined with business organizations in BR-VT so far.
The opening ceremony of the Cultural Week was solemnly held in the Culture Center of the province in the evening of September 21st, with the presence of ROK Embassy’s and Consulate’s representatives, Korean investors in BR-VT... The meeting for trade and investment promotion took place at 14.00 to 17.00 on the same day at Imperial Hotel with the presence of about 300 delegates who were representatives from ROK Embassy and Consulate, and Korean and Vietnam investors.
This was considered a chance for Korean investors seeking opportunities to invest in Vietnam in general and in BR-VT in particular. A food and beverage event, together with traditional games, was hold at Tourism Market, Vung Tau cities with participation of over 30 businesses. A photo exhibition “A 20-year Journey of Vietnam-ROK relationship” at the Culture Center of the province highlights 3 main themes around the relationship between the two countries; the economic-social events of BR-VT and ROK; and the introduction of sights in BR-VT and in its twin city Pohang, Incheon.
Other significant activities were Art Exchange in Vung Tau Tourism Market, Flying Kite Festival at Bien Dong Tourism Zone, Vung Tau city, Soccer and Taekwondo Friendly Matches, and especially a Vietnam- Korea Cinema Week, in which brilliant films about people, country and significant cultural-social features of Korea were on show at Dien Bien Cinema or were broadcast by Ba Ria TV.
AND A LOT OF ACTIVITIES OF CULTURAL EXCHANGE IN POHANG CITY, KOREA
On October 3rd, the delegation of BR-VT officially visited Korea for the ceremony of 20 year of diplomatic relation between Vietnam and ROK hold at Haedo Park by Pohang City authority.
Programs in Haedo Park included Flying Love Kite, traditional Vietnamese food and beverage festival, and other activities. BR-VT province joined the activities with a flute kite carrying a 28-meter flag of Vietnam by two artists from Ba Ria Kite Club, following by a kite-making class for Korean children, and with delicious traditional Vietnamese food, which attracted many Korean people.
The delegation also took part in a promotion conference on trade, investment, and tourism at Pohang city, visited Pohang port, and gave presents to 36 typical Vietnamese-Korean couples living and working in the city.
It can be said that the response to the year of friendship between Vietnam and ROK is an opportunity to introduce cultural features to Korean friends living and working in BR-VT and other surrounding provinces; also an opportunity to introduce the potential of BR-VT in trade and tourism to Korean market; and, most of all, an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the two countries in general, and between BR-VT and Pohang city in particular.
