24 YEARS – A LONG TIME
24 years of establishment and development of Dong Nai Port is a long everchanging time. However, with efforts from the board and its staff, Dong Nai has achieved a good reputation.
Established in 1989, it was formerly a factory belonging to Transport Department of Dong Nai. In 1955, it became a state-owned business. In 2006, it officially operated in form of a JS. In the end of 2011, stock code of Dong Nai port appeared on the stock exchange of HCMC.
After 24 years, from a yard of 4ha and a berth of 60m in Long Binh Tan area, Dong Nai port has expanded in size, upgraded its equipments, and significantly improved its services and thus gained significant achievements.
Container services started to be exploited in 2011. Dong Nai port has strategic location and advanced equipments as 2 fixed Liebherr cranes with the capacity of 45 tons, outreach 29.5m; 2 Reach Stacker vehicles with capacity of 25 tons for containers; 1 Reach Stacker for empty containers, 6 articulated lorries for empty containers, a large warehouse and yard system that has storage capacity of 3,000 TEU of container cargo and 5,000 TEU of empty containers. For effectively connecting customers in the province and regions of Southeastern, South Central area and Tay Nguyen, the port has become familiar to many liners.
With the target of having a stable development and meeting requirements from the market, Dong Nai port has been investing in modernizing its equipments, technology and specializing its staff.
Continuing with the average growth of 10-15% of previous years, Dong Nai port has set targets of loading/ unloading 3.3 million tons of general cargo and 180,000 TEU of container cargo, among which are 30% of container cargo in 2013 in the period of recession. Dong Nai port has the determination to be one of top ten leading ports in the country with capacity of 5 tons of cargo and 300,000 TEU container in 2015.
In the road to affirm its brand, Dong Nai Port JS Company has expanded container transport services, upgraded its unloading equipments and means of transport by capital raising to establish Long Thanh Port JS Company, Dong Nai Maritime Service JS Company, and Dong Nai Port Service JS Company, which enables new successes.
And for future development, Dong Nai port is carrying out the expanding project phase2 at Long Binh Tan Ward (Bien Hoa city), the project of office service zone and the project of Go Dau General Port in Phuoc Thai Ward (Long Thanh province). Dong Nai port has also offered customers incentive policies, diversified services, and applied flexible price policy that enables to adapt to market changes.
SAVE TIME – OPTIMZE COST
To reach the principle of “Stable, Efficient, Trustful Development”, Dong Nai Port has tried its best to offer solutions that help businesses save time and cut cost and continuously upgrade its logistics service quality.
Dong Nai port is a depot and transshipment port which enables to connect waterways with badges in Dong Nai province, which helps businesses save time and cut cost.
With exported goods: Goods are packed in Dong Nai Port or at factories (with empty container from Dong Nai port) and then unloaded at Dong Nai port. They are transported to international ports as VICT, SPCT, Cat Lai in HCMC and TCIT, TCCT, CMIT, SP-PSA at Cai Mep-Thi Vai by barges. And they are loaded into vessels to be transported worldwide. Imported goods follow reverse process.
The solution helps to save 300,000-500,000 dong/container when transporting cargo from factories to Dong Nai port, instead of transporting them to transshipment ports in Thu Duc area, HCMC as Cat Lai, VICT, SPCT. And it helps to save at least 1,000,000-1,500,000 dong/container in case goods do not have to be transported to ports in Cai Mep-Thi Vai region. Transporting times can be saved for higher frequency and increase of benefits. The solution also helps to avoid road congestions.
Besides, Container Freight Station (CFS) warehouses in Dong Nai port have been made good use of, which also helps logistics business cut cost.
Currently, CFS warehouses are located outside international container terminals, and transshipment ports which enable to connect to one another by barges. However, this will make a significant cost transporting container cargo from CFS’s to ports. If CFSs in Dong Nai port are well exploited, a significant cost can be cut. And it will result in a decrease in total logistics cost. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bach Mai said “ Dong Nai port has been building 2 CFS with 5,000 m2 each. The first one will be put into operation in the 2nd quarter of 2013, and the second will be finished at the end of 2013. The CFSs in full operation will help a great deal to cut cost and improve quality of logistics services in Dong Nai.
