The Sodegaura Biomass Power project was signed with Chiyoda Corporation (Japan) on August 13rd, 2018 regarding the supply of boiler’s pressure, non-pressure parts and steel structures for the Sodegaura Biomass Power Plant using Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) technology, located in Chiba, Japan.

A total of 4,000 tons of the project includes 1,500 tons of boiler structural components such as Pressure Part Coil, Panel, Header, Piping, Link and Tank. Once in operation, this equipment will help generate high-pressure steam whsich rotates turbines to produce electricity. The rest of nearly 2,500 tons consists of structural steel, buckstay, duct, and bed material bin which is responsible for supporting the boiler pressure part, conducting gas, and storing biomass fuel.

The total project consists of 11 shipments and in this 8th delivery, a total of six equipment weighing 158 tons were shipped. In which, the Fuel Bed Heat Exchanger (FBHE) module is the largest which weighs 67 tons and is the most complicated structure because it is made up of parts (Header/Coil/Panel/Link) under extremely strict technical requirements during fabrication, assembly, and inspection.

Up to now, Doosan Vina delivered a total of 3,093 tons to Chiyoda customer and is expected to complete the order in February 2021.

"This is the first time Doosan Vina manufacture and supply products for Biomass Power Plants using the CFB technology. This technology is very advanced because it help reduce CO2 emissions and can burn biomass fuel including wood chip into clean electric energy, environmentally friendly, and currently a trending technology that most of countries around the world believe on", Baek Ho Sik, Director of Doosan Vina’s Boiler shop said.

He went on to say “Currently, Doosan Vina is also focusing on manufacturing clean energy and renewable energy equipment. In addition to this CFB technology, we are also producing waste-to-energy (WTE) technology boilers to supply for the power plants near Kyoto, Japan. These WTE boiler equipment are expected to be shipped next year, 2021”.

The Sodegaura Biomass Power Plant is the largest capacity biomass firing plant in Japan with 75 MW, located in Chiba province and is expected to come into operation in July 2022.
