- Could you introduce us about the history of the formation and operation of PGS scale?
The group itself has indeed a long history. The company was established by Mr. Francesco Parisi in Trieste and present in Central Europa since 1807. The Group is engaged in Freight Forwarding, Port Operating and Shipping Agency. The Company is controlled and managed from the origin by the Parisi family – now the eighth generation in business. Our current group CEO is Dr. Francesco Parisi, located in the group head office in Trieste, Italy – he is also the current president of FIATA (International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations)
The first Asian office was founded in 2003 as joint venture in Hong Kong. From there, Parisi Grand Smooth Logistics Ltd / PGS Logistics has expanded rapidly in the Asian region. Presently the Asian organization has offices in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Ningbo, Shanghai, Beijing, Qingdao, Taipei, Keelung, HCMC and our latest office in Hanoi.
Our Ho Chi Minh office was established in June 2011 and since then I am Nhiem in charge of the Vietnam developments.
- With over 200 years of development, please advise how the potential of the logistics industry in Southeast Asia, why does PGS penetrate markets in Vietnam?
Our company slogan is: “Over 200 years of shipping expertise team with local knowledge”.
Certainly over the years the group has formed special terms with the main Shipping Lines, Airlines and Authorities around the globe. We think globally and act locally. Our real strength is to be close to our clients and partners and we do go the extra mile.
- In this tough economic times like today, what’s PGS’s strategy to build its reputation?
Our Vietnam and Asian offices are still growing and in fact we do not feel any decline in our business. Every year we grow on number of shipments and profit. PGS strategy is to keep a lean management and a key staff must keep focusing on the day to day business.
- Currently, there are many large corporations around the world have invested in logistics in Vietnam, and when investing in Vietnam PGS will meet many of the competition, make sure that the company has made strategic while private entry into Vietnam?

The group shows strong interest in the Vietnam Freight Forwarding and Logistics market. Indeed the market become more competitive in Vietnam but our group has experience from other markets that competitive price, honest and good service will gain market share anywhere.
- Businesses and customers are always looking for your most reliable/ profitable services, such as competitive pricing and timely delivery time? So, what is the PGS solution that gives customers?
First of all, price is always important but with our long history we provide our clients a certainty and trust that we are here today but also in many years.
Our service portfolio in our HCMC and Hanoi office is very spread out
We are specialized in export reefer containers, standard containers and air freight. On top we have a dedicated import team with various services in terms of transit time and point to point service.
Our imports from Asia and Europe are increasing a lot and all handled by our own origin offices with much better pricing and info flow as the competition is offering.
- When investing in Vietnam market, what does the company receive the advantages and difficulties of infrastructure, or the customs procedure…?
The logistics and shipping infrastructure in Vietnam is still developing and the group foresees big opportunity in the country. In any kind of market are difficulties but our company approach them in a positive way and basically “nothing is impossible”
- To further develop the logistics industry, according to PGS, what is Vietnam Government needs to do?
Of course there are various facts which may need to be considered: as road and rail improvements but we believe the Government is on the right track.
