Binh Duong pushes up logistics service development

(Vietnam Logistics Review) In recent years, Binh Duong has been pushing up logistics service developments and has had certain achievements, especially in investment attractions to expand its traffic infrastructure, warehouse systems, river ports, icd ports and customs declaration assisting services…, Which partly meet the needs of enterprises operating in the province.

Large-scale development

Currently, there are 4 river ports in Binh Duong province: An Son (Thuan An town), Thanh Phuoc (Tan Uyen town), Binh Duong (Di An town) and Ba Lua (Thu Dau Mot city). Besides, there are other 64 local waterway ports operating and providing transport and stevedoring services for all kinds of cargo. The services are quite good.

Besides, warehousing services have been invested and have developed in large scale. There are 48 enterprises currently operating in logistics services at industrial parks in the fields of transport, container leasing, factory building and leasing, warehousing, packaging, consolidating, delivery, consulting… basically meeting the needs for goods circulating in the country and abroad of enterprises in the province and nearby regions. Many enterprises have invested in large-scale to ware house system as Song Than I: Kery Integrated Logistics, Vietnam; 3/2 Company, Binh Hoa ward, Mapletree, VSIP II; Sotrans…

According to a representative of Department of Commercial& Industry, both local and foreign investors have paid much attention to logistics service sector. Logistics investment projects have been larger in scale and more specialized, providing various package services and contributing in economic growth of Binh Duong, especially in the field of delivery and importexport.

In the past two years, many enterprises have invested to expand their warehouses. In 2015, TBS Logistics (TBS Group), together with APL Logistics (American President Lines) operating in Vietnam, had the open ceremony of Warehouse 5- the largest warehouse in South East Asia of APL’s. TBS Logistics has a surface area of 115ha, total investment capital of USD 125m- 35ha has been put in operation and 45ha is under construction. The total warehouse surface area is 135.000m2. Ms. Nguyen Thi Vui, Director of TBS Logistics said:“It can be said TBS Logistics warehouse is the most cutting-edge warehouse with equipment of stevedoring, storage and management, security, customs brokerage service, packaging and labeling. TBS wants to be a trustful logistics center in Vietnam and strategic logistics partners of both foreign and local customers.”

U&I Logistics JS Co., (Unigroup) has a warehouse of 178,851m2, which has met all requirement from customers as Magnussen Home Furnishings, Home Herritage Group, Elements International Group…and gained prestige from them. For many years, U&I Logistics has been their trusted partner.

Keep attracting infrastructure investments

Vietnam has signed bilateral, multilateral agreements as FTA- EU, FTA Vietnam- Customs Associations, TTP… To make advantages from these agreements and to have more investment attractions, Binh Duong has set targets of developing logistics services in the area.

In the time to come, Binh Duong will keep calling for investing in ports and maintaining activities of the existing local waterway port for the needs of tourism and transporting small cargo in or out of the province. Other local waterway ports will be built on the rivers of Dong Nai, Saigon and Thi Vai serving transports of construction materials and fertilizers. Each district (except Phu Giao) will have a waterway port. To ICD system, Phase 2 of Di An Logistics Center and port group will be under construction with the surface area of 20ha. Besides, bounding roads will be developed to improve the connection of the whole network: building elevated National Road 13 and bounding roads of HCMC, Di An East-West axis. And public transport network as bus system will also be developed.

According to the proposal of Mr. Huynh Van Minh, Director of Institute of Planning and City Development of Binh Duong province about the development of Binh Duong in term of 2016- 2020 and orientation of 2021 2025, the development of warehousing system and economic, technical infrastructures should be synchronous in term of modernization and professionalism. The development of warehousing system should be based on the demand of warehouses and the investment ability of the society to ensure high economic efficiency and stability.
