On the morning of May 11, Tan Cang Land Transport Joint Stock Company (a subsidiary of Saigon Newport Corporation) received four hybrid rubber-tyred gantry (RTG Hybrid) crane systems for operations at Tan Cang Cat Lai Port. The cranes were assembled with the support of Tan Cang Technical Services under the quality supervision of Mitsui E&S Group (Japan).

Designed with high steel frames and rubber tyres for flexible mobility, these cranes are particularly well-suited for ports with limited space but high operational efficiency requirements. A notable feature is their combination of renewable energy storage batteries and small-capacity diesel engines, which enables fuel savings of up to 60–64% and significantly reduces CO₂ emissions.

The four RTG Hybrid crane systems were manufactured in Vietnam by Huynh Thy Company under the quality supervision of Mitsui E&S, one of Japan’s leading container handling equipment manufacturers. The production process also involved local firms such as Lilama 18, Vinalift, and notably Tan Cang Technical Services Corporation (DVKT).

As the core technical service provider of Saigon Newport Corporation, DVKT played a key role in assembling, supervising construction, and test-operating the RTG Hybrid cranes. DVKT engineers ensured the highest technical standards during installation and conducted safety inspections, performance tests, and equipment optimization to ensure readiness for immediate deployment. This effort showcases DVKT’s technological capability and pioneering spirit aligned with Saigon Newport Corporation’s “Green Port” development strategy.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Viet Hung, Director of Tan Cang Technical Services Corporation, emphasized that the installation and operation of the four RTG Hybrid cranes at Cat Lai is a vital step in realizing the green port objective—reducing emissions and enhancing operational efficiency. He expressed pride in the team’s relentless efforts that contributed to this milestone.

In addition to installation, DVKT actively collaborates with Mitsui E&S and key partners to facilitate technology transfer, upskill personnel, and promote equipment localization to reduce production costs and optimize operations.

According to industry insiders, most ports in Vietnam still rely on older diesel-powered equipment, which is fuel-intensive and heavily polluting. Upgrading to energy-efficient and low-emission equipment like Hybrid RTG cranes not only improves operational performance but also affirms a company's pioneering position in the sustainable, eco-friendly development trend—contributing to elevating Vietnamese seaports on the regional and global stage.
