The shipment sent to the Van Phong 1 Thermal Power Plant (located in Van Phong EZ, Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa province) was made on March 15 for the Japanese IHI Corporation after nearly seven months of production. The equipment sent are under the contract of the VP1 Steel Structure project which was signed on April 28, 2020. In this order, Doosan Vina will supply nearly 9,000 tons of steel structures including Columns, Beams, H-Braces, Monorail Beams, and Elevator shafts for the VP1 TPP.

The entire project is divided into 19 shipments and in the first shipment today, Doosan Vina delivered 195 packages weighing 1,010 tons of steel structure of the first floor of the plant. This is the floor with the heaviest volume and the main bearing force for the entire thermal power plant. Among the equipment sent, the biggest one weighs 32 tons, is 3m high, 23m long, 4m wide and is made of imported steel plates up to 8cm thick. The next shipment is expected to be made in early April of 2021 and the project completion will be in May 2022.

“To catch up with the delivery schedule as well as ensure product quality under the strict requirements of Japanese customer, we’ve created and applied lots of improvements during the production process. Especially, the parallel welding of two machines for the Box-column category. This innovation not only helps us to meet the delivery time but also improves product quality and is highly appreciated by our customer.” Huynh Van Ke, department leader of the MHS shop said.

He went on to say: “Before getting to fabrication, we also conducted checking the imported material specifications and conducting visual inspections under the witness of the IHI representatives. This is one of the most important steps in the project implementation process.”

In addition to the VP1 Steel Structure project, Doosan Vina is also implementing and achieving more than 50% of the progress of the 756 tons of the VP1 Coal Bunker project and the VP1 CW Piping project (signed with CTCI, Taiwan) with more than 6,159 tons of seawater cooling pipeline system for the VP1 TPP.
