High-Tech Agriculture

Chau Duc District boasts over 34,000 hectares of agricultural land, making it the largest region for industrial crops and fruit trees in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province. The area is well known for its signature produce, such as durian, avocado, mangosteen, and cacao. Thanks to favorable climate and soil conditions, the district has focused on developing high-tech agriculture, forming value chain production zones, and strengthening technology transfer to enhance productivity and efficiency.

By the end of 2023, high-tech agriculture accounted for approximately 35% of the district’s total agricultural production value, with an average annual growth rate of 3.9% over the past 30 years. The district currently has 4,562 hectares of high-tech agricultural land, contributing to increased income and improved livelihoods for local farmers.

The "One Commune, One Product" (OCOP) program has also been a key focus, with 56 certified products, including 24 four-star and 19 three-star products. To date, 13 out of 14 communes have met advanced new rural standards, while 4 communes have achieved exemplary new rural status, paving the way for sustainable agricultural development.\

To further boost high-tech agriculture, Chau Duc has designated two high-tech agricultural production zones: Xuân Sơn Commune (326 hectares) and Quang Thanh Commune (383 hectares), totaling over 700 hectares. By 2025, these zones are expected to operate efficiently, specializing in vegetables, flowers, mushrooms, fruit trees, and long-term industrial crops, prioritizing varieties suited to basalt soil, such as avocado, durian, jackfruit, banana, cacao, and pepper.

Additionally, the district has promoted high-tech livestock farming, with Suối Rao Commune being planned as a large-scale livestock farming zone, accommodating 40,000 pigs per year and 500,000 poultry per cycle. The adoption of modern technology in animal husbandry enhances productivity, ensures environmental safety, and delivers high-quality products to the market.

Industry – A Driving Force for Economic Growth

According to Ba Ria - Vung Tau’s 2021-2030 master plan, with a vision to 2050, Chau Duc is set to become a dynamic economic region, developing a diverse range of processing and manufacturing industries with advanced technology. Currently, the district has two industrial parks and one industrial cluster in operation, covering a total area of 3,154 hectares.

- Da Bac Industrial Park: 307 hectares, 100% occupancy rate.

- Chau Duc Urban - Industrial Park: Over 2,000 hectares, 51% occupancy rate.

- Ngai Giao Industrial Cluster: Operating stably, creating jobs for around 2,000 workers, with an average salary exceeding 11 million VND/month.

With a strategic geographic location, West Chau Duc falls within the seaport industrial zone, part of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau logistics economic corridor and Ho Chi Minh City’s Beltway 4. This prime positioning facilitates trade, transportation, and investment attraction in the district's industrial parks.

Moreover, Châu Đức is actively promoting green and sustainable industry, integrating eco-friendly technologies to minimize environmental impact while ensuring high-quality industrial output that meets both domestic and international market demands.

Unlocking the Potential of Ecotourism & Community Tourism

Several tourism destinations in Chau Duc have gained strong recognition, attracting domestic and international visitors. Suoi Rao Ecolodge, the first carbon-neutral eco-tourism site in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, is a prime example. With pristine forests, natural streams, and immersive experiences like camping, boating, and nature exploration, Suoi Rao Ecolodge is becoming a sought-after retreat for tourists seeking tranquility and ecological harmony.

Additionally, Dat Rong – Dinh Gia Trang has emerged as a successful tourism model, drawing group tours from Australia, Japan, and Singapore. This traditional Vietnamese village-style resort not only offers cultural and culinary experiences but also aims to develop senior-friendly wellness tourism, catering to domestic and international retirees.

Furthermore, the district has expanded agro-tourism models, with The Sapphire Garden, Charm Village, HTC Agriculture & Fisheries Suoi Giau, and Binon Cacao among the most popular spots. These locations provide tourists with a green environment and opportunities to learn about organic agriculture, high-tech farming, and enjoy freshly harvested produce.

For historical and spiritual tourism, Chau Duc has invested in preserving and promoting the Binh Gia Victory Monument. Celebrating 60 years since the historic battle in 2024, the district has organized various events to attract visitors and educate them on Vietnam’s wartime resilience.

Beyond ecotourism, Chau Duc is developing high-end tourism products, including streamside resorts, wellness retreats, and adventure tourism hubs. Moving forward, the district plans to attract more investors to make it one of the leading ecotourism destinations in Southeast Vietnam.

Towards a Sustainable Future

Chau Duc’s recent economic strides are testaments to its visionary leadership and strategic planning. With strong local government commitment and community support, the district is rapidly transforming into a key economic center in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.

From a traditional agricultural district, Chau Duc has maximized its strengths, transitioning into a modern industrial hub with high-tech agriculture and ecotourism development. The industrial sector is becoming a key economic pillar, creating thousands of jobs and fostering technological innovation. The high-tech agricultural industry is boosting product quality and expanding export potential. Meanwhile, ecotourism and community tourism are positioning Chau Duc as an eco-friendly travel destination.

To ensure sustainable development, the district must continue investing in transport infrastructure, logistics, and urban expansion, while enhancing workforce quality and integrating digital transformation in production. A transparent and investor-friendly business environment will be crucial in attracting large-scale investments, particularly in green technology, renewable energy, and agricultural processing.

With its clear vision, strong leadership, and committed workforce, Chau Duc is on track to become not just a major player in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, but also a significant economic, industrial, and tourism hub in Southeast Vietnam. The district is steadily affirming its position, propelling local economic growth towards a prosperous and sustainable future.
