Launching the Photos and Videos Contest 'Happy Vietnam 2024'

This morning (March 20), the Ministry of Information and Communications launched the Photos and Videos Contest "Happy Vietnam 2024". The launch ceremony was held online with 63 locations nationwide.

In response to the International Day of Happiness on March 20 and in accordance with Decision No. 1079/QD-TTg dated September 14, 2022, by the Prime Minister approving the Communication Project on Human Rights in Vietnam, the Ministry of Information and Communications, in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA). and relevant agencies, organized the Photos and Videos Contest "Happy Vietnam 2024".

This is one of the focal activities in the communication plan on human rights of the Ministry in 2024.

At the launch ceremony of the contest, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized that in 2012, the United Nations chose March 20 as the International Day of Happiness upon the proposal of Bhutan - a country with a high happiness index based on factors such as health, mental well-being, education, environment, and quality of life of its people".

This highlights the role of happiness, satisfaction in promoting sustainable development and reducing poverty, as well as the importance of happiness and human rights in the policymaking process of each country.

Vietnam is currently one of the 193 member states of the United Nations committed to supporting, acting, and making more efforts to build a fair world, sustainable development, and bring happiness to humanity.

The 'Happy Vietnam' contest was first launched in 2023 and has achieved impressive success, being well received and highly appreciated by both domestic and international audiences, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam stated.

The goal of the 'Happy Vietnam 2024' contest is to discover and honor meaningful moments, stories from all aspects of Vietnam's political, economic, cultural, and social life through photo and video works submitted by domestic and international authors, affirming vividly Vietnam's achievements in the field of human rights.

Emphasizing the mobilization of the comprehensive strength of all layers of the population domestically, the Vietnamese community abroad, and international friends in communication activities, promoting the image of the country and its people, affirming Vietnam as a peaceful, beautiful, dynamically developing country, and a happy nation.

Accordingly, all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and above can participate in two categories: photos and videos. The entries should introduce and promote the image of the country, the Vietnamese people, cultural values, and nature across the nation; achievements in all aspects of Vietnam's political, economic, cultural, and social life, especially in the renovation, development, and international integration efforts... thereby affirming Vietnam's achievements in the field of human rights.

Entries must not have been exhibited or awarded at any previous competitions or exhibitions. Each author can submit a maximum of 10 entries (photos and videos) created from January 1, 2022, to August 20, 2024. Video entries can be in the form of single works or group videos, documentaries, short films, skits filmed with any filming device.

According to Pham Anh Tuan, Director of the Authority of Foreign Information Service (Ministry of Information and Communications), entries will be accepted from March 20 to August 20, 2024. Authors can submit their entries directly on the website: https://happy.vietnam.vn

The criteria for entries are to have high promotional value for the image of the country, the Vietnamese people, cultural values, and nature across the nation; to awaken national pride and development aspirations in all layers of the population, contributing together to building a more prosperous, prosperous, and happy Vietnam.
