Vietnam–China Cooperation Enters a New Phase

Welcoming a delegation business representatives from Ho Chi Minh City and various provinces across Vietnam, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung emphasized the importance of practical exchanges and direct engagement between the business communities of the two countries.

According to him, Vietnam–China cooperation is evolving beyond traditional trade toward high technology, strategic infrastructure, and innovation-driven development.

The delegation included Dr. Le Van Hy, Director of the International Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain (IILS) and Vice Chairman cum Secretary General of HCM-SME; Dr. Truong Gia Bao, Vice Chairman cum Secretary General of VNREA and representative of FPT Corporation; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Director of IILS and CEO of U&I Logistics; Mr. Tran Huu Hoa, Director of IILS and Navitic Technology; together with leaders from various enterprises operating in logistics, construction, technology, and industrial real estate.

Logistics, Infrastructure, and Talent Development Offer Significant Potential

During the meeting, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung noted that China currently accounts for approximately two-thirds of the world’s high-speed railway network.

He highlighted strategic railway connectivity projects linking Nanning, Hanoi, Chongqing, and Yunnan, with further connections to Europe, as important initiatives that could significantly reduce logistics costs and improve regional competitiveness.

Beyond transportation infrastructure, construction materials and industrial real estate were also identified as promising areas for cooperation. As Vietnam continues to invest heavily in infrastructure development, demand for construction materials, engineering technologies, and industrial park management expertise is expected to rise substantially.

Another noteworthy initiative is the “Two Countries – Two Parks” model, a strategic framework designed to establish interconnected industrial zones in Vietnam and China, leveraging the complementary strengths of both economies.

Regarding workforce development, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung stressed that education and technology must progress together.

He also pointed to China’s strong policies on research incentives and intellectual property protection as key drivers of innovation and talent retention.

Learning from China’s Development and Governance Experience

In addition to economic cooperation opportunities, the Vietnamese delegation showed strong interest in China’s urban management and development practices.

According to Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung, many Chinese cities have successfully implemented intelligent traffic management systems that dynamically adjust traffic flows based on real-time conditions and utilize multi-level transportation infrastructure to reduce congestion.

Equally important is public awareness and civic responsibility, which China has incorporated into long-term education strategies to support urban efficiency.

In trade promotion, China’s integrated Expo model—combining technology, education, culture, and innovation within a single platform—was highlighted as a valuable reference for Vietnamese organizations seeking to enhance investment promotion activities.

At the meeting, Dr. Le Van Hy and other delegation members emphasized that Vietnam–China economic relations are entering a deeper stage of cooperation, extending beyond trade into infrastructure, technology, knowledge exchange, and innovation.

He further stressed the importance of accelerating digital transformation in infrastructure management, logistics operations, and investment promotion while ensuring that international experiences are adapted selectively to Vietnam’s unique social, cultural, and economic conditions.

Participants concluded that closer collaboration between leading enterprises, supported by government agencies and diplomatic missions, will be essential to transforming these opportunities into concrete projects and advancing sustainable Vietnam–China economic cooperation in the years ahead.
