ASL “Having small contribution to the development of Vietnam’s Logistics”

(Vietnam Logistics Review) On the 12th anniversary of Amerasian Shipping Logistics corporation (ASL Logistics), Ms. Vo Thi Phuong Lan - Chairperson of the board cum General Director of ASL Logistics - gave VLR a talk on development experience of the logistics company.

- The year 2016 is considered a good year for both ASL Logistics and you for the titles given by the People’s Committee of HCMC’s and by the Communist Youth Union of HCMC’s. Can you give some ideas about the successes?

The title Typical Businessperson of HCMC’s is the title for businesspeople who have contributions for social- economic development of the city. It is the first time that I received the title and I am really happy. It is the result from our work and efforts. And the title is our motivation for more contributions to the logistics sector, to the society and to the economy of HCMC’s.

ASL Logistics, is in its 12. In twelve years in charge of the corporation, what have made you satisfied?

As a person operating 20 years in the logistics sector, I find it important to the country’s economy, especially in the time of integration to the regional economy and the world’s economy. The role of the logistics sector has been considered by the Government the key sector to push up other services, push up goods flow and import- export. Vietnam’s over-all strategy of developing service sector to 2020 has confirmed this. In general, logistics is consider a driving force of the economy.

It the sector is well- organized, it will save a lot of time, resources and costs for enterprises, for the economy. ASL Logistics, together with the developments of the logistics sector, has had good developments in the past 12 years: having adequate devices and human resources to provide qualified package logistics services and bringing cargo - including oversize cargo and project cargo - from Vietnam to countries worldwide.

ASL Logistics has contributed its part in the developments of Vietnam’s logistics sector. We find it most satisfied. ASL Logistics has representative offices and branches in HCMC, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Danang, Binh Duong and Los Angeles (The U.S). We also have professional agency networks in 90 countries worldwide.

What is the current strong point of ASL Logistics’s?

In 12 years of operation, qualified fast services: high efficiency - low fee - punctuality helps ASL Logistics, have a number of stable customer and have sustainable development. It is our strength.

ASL Logistics, currently provides services of international standards as local and international multi-modal transport, international sea and air forwarding, customs brokerage service, 3PL integrated forwarding service, local transport by truck and container truck, project cargo forwarding and transport, ISO Tank container transport…

Chains in ASL Logistics integrated logistics chains are rather perfect, do you have any plan for expand activity scale? ASL Logistics has plans to develop forwarding system in all Vietnam and develop international systems. In 2017-2018 we will open representative offices in Cambodia and Myanmar. We try to be in TOP 20 of Best Logistics Provider in Vietnam. Although there are fierce competitions, we try to maintain our growth rate at 15-20% pa.

As we know, till 2020 ASL Logistics will buy tractors, semi-trailers, and build an automated warehouse, how is the information?

We have plan to buy 30 semi-trailers and to build an automated warehouse system with modern technology so that we can meet the need from customers’ and for our own developments.

Beside policy of safety in the progress of cargo transport, ASL Logistics has improved maintenance system for our fleet in accordance to principles by the Ministry of Transport.

ASL Logistics, has always paid attention to human resource training and it is a frequent activities. In 2018, we are trying to have certificates of Customs Agencyfor all staff working in Customs Agencies.

Besides, ASL Logistics, pays much attention to developments and IT applications: applying on-line meeting Webex meeting, developing management software DN, developing local transport management software system and improving service quality to have quick connection to customers.

The economy keeps developing and integrating to the world, and thus bringing more opportunities to the logistics sector. With enthusiasm and determination, ASL Logistics staff have been trying their best to contribute, to the country’s economy,to a more sustainably developing logistics and to the company’s prosperity.
