Being with sun, sea and winds day after day to guarantee the safety of tourists – a silent work of Ba Ria-Vung Tau (BR-VT) rescue team members’.
Vung Tau - a gateway to the East Sea, located near the key economic zone of the South, hold advantages to develop services of all kinds. Vung Tau has a long coast of over 300 kilometers; a half of it is beautiful gently-sloped beaches with clean blue water all year round. However, water flows and winds are able to bring potential danger to tourists if there were no helps from members of BR-VT sea rescue teams.
In 2002, BR-VT founded 5 management boards of tourism zones belonging to wards’ People Committee that receive instructions from departments and committees. One of the key duties is to set up teams for rescue and resuscitation in tourism zones. And BR-VT has had a qualified rescue force operating on beaches since.
Have you ever heard of the rescue work? A sea rescue team’s member, being with sun, sea, and winds day after day keeps his eyes observing the vast sea for incidents, does tons of routine work: placing signal flags, giving instructions to tourists, and is ready to plunge himself into the sea for a rescue.
A professional sea rescuer has to undergo courses on rescue and other annual g courses on physical training. And then, their 5.30 to 6 work is carried out daily no matter what the weather is like: either in burning sun or in biting winds. The rescue work is mostly based on man power and experience; lack of experience and hesitating actions may bring harm to the rescuer himself. At peak season, the rescue work can be more difficult: the team has to continuously remind tourists to stay in safety zones. However, there has been some in-cooperation from a minor number of tourists. But with professional ethics, rescuers are always ready to be by victims’ side in response to their signals for help.
The rescue force of BR-VT has saved hundreds of victims from whirlpools, turn-over or floating buoys annually. They are doing the noble work in silence to guarantee tourists’ safety, contributing to the development of BR-VT tourism.
