South Korea group plans $1b ICD in Vietnam

(VLR) Executives of South Korea’s DaeHan Group have met with authorities of Vietnam’s northern province of Vinh Phuc to show their special interest in building a US$1 billion inland container depot (ICD).

South Koreas Daehan A and C Co., Ltd is proposing to construct an inland container depot (ICD) in the northern province of Vinh Phucs Binh Xuyen District.

An Ki-hong, deputy general director of the Daehan Group, told Phung Quang Hung, Chairman of the provincial Peoples Committee, about the proposal at a meeting held on March 11.

The depot is expected to cover an area of 100 hectares with a total estimated investment of over US$1 billion.

An said that logistics play an important role in multimodal transport and the ICDs construction would contribute to developing the provinces economy.

Hung highly appreciated Daehans proposal. He said that the province has completed its planning for an ICD in Binh Xuyen and offered full support to the company if the project is approved.

At the meeting, Hung also affirmed that the province would create favourable conditions for South Korean companies to operate their production and business there.
