"The Colors of Quang Ngai - Chapter I" will be a cultural program fostering connection and sharing

"The Colors of Quang Ngai in Ho Chi Minh City" is a cultural, culinary, and tourism festival deeply rooted in the culture and people of Quang Ngai. This event, for the first time, will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on January 12 and 13, 2024, spanning two days.

On November 15, 2023, the Quang Ngai Association in Ho Chi Minh City held a press conference to introduce the program "The Colors of Quang Ngai - Chapter I". The program is scheduled to take place before the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, 2024.

The event is a collaboration between the Quang Ngai Association in Ho Chi Minh City, the Quang Ngai Business Club in Ho Chi Minh City, the "Back to Our Hometown - Quang Ngai" Club, the "Connecting Love" Club, and the "Quang Ngai Students in Ho Chi Minh City" Club. The aim is to connect the people of Quang Ngai in Ho Chi Minh City, promote the cultural image of Quang Ngai to both domestic and international tourists, and, importantly, foster community spirit through humanitarian activities.

Spreading Love

Quang Ngai is a region known for its rich cultural heritage, academic achievements, and remarkable geography—the cradle of Sa Huynh culture. The land of Nui An - Song Tra has given birth to numerous talents and heroes who have contributed significantly to the nation, preserving valuable cultural and historical artifacts. The people are hardworking, resilient, compassionate, and courageous. References to the Hoang Sa Fleet and the Ba To Uprising in history are sources of pride for the local population.

The Quang Ngai community residing, working, and studying in Ho Chi Minh City is diverse in terms of demographics and professions. The connections and support between the leadership of the province and fellow countrymen are strong and heartfelt. Annually, during the Lunar New Year, the Quang Ngai Association in Ho Chi Minh City organizes year-end gatherings, calling for and implementing volunteer activities to help those in difficult circumstances. This tradition extends to many other Quang Ngai volunteer clubs in Ho Chi Minh City, involving various organizations and individuals who join hands in charitable activities focused on their homeland.

With the same spirit, in preparation for the new year 2024 and the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, the program with the theme "The Colors of Quang Ngai" will be implemented. The program will officially take place on January 12 and 13, 2024, at Dong Ho Garden (located at 195 - 197 Cao Thang Extension, Ward 12, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City).

During the press conference on November 15, the Organizing Committee announced that the Quang Ngai Association in Ho Chi Minh City would organize Tet charity trips for students and underprivileged individuals to return to their hometown for Tet, distributing scholarships to students who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies. It is planned to award 40 scholarships (each worth 2,000,000 VND) from the Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarship of Thanh Nien Newspaper in the program".

Also, at the press conference, the program "Scholarships to support ethnic minority students, poor students" (initiated by Mr. Truong Hoa Binh, former member of the Politburo, former Deputy Prime Minister, established and transferred to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper for management) agreed to grant 20 scholarships, each worth 2,000,000 VND, to students facing difficulties, excelling in their studies in Quang Ngai province.

Cultural Highlights

The Organizing Committee affirmed that the program would feature various cultural, culinary, and tourism activities, showcasing the unique identity of Quang Ngai.

In terms of culture, the Organizing Committee will collaborate with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quang Ngai province to bring the model of the 9-wheel water cart - a symbol of Quang Ngai's memories created by artist Mai Van Quyt - to be exhibited in Ho Chi Minh City. Afterward, the model will be presented back to the province. Additionally, unique cultural spaces of Quang Ngai such as hoi bai choi (a traditional singing game), hat ho (a traditional singing style), and hat sac bua (a traditional form of singing) will be revived.

Regarding cuisine, Quang Ngai is known for its delicious and traditional dishes such as don (a kind of vermicelli), grilled corn, xu xoa (a type of vegetable), Mach Nha sticky rice, Song Tra catfish, Ly Son garlic, and Tra Bong cinnamon, among others. The Organizing Committee will recreate culinary spaces with the essence of the homeland, inviting fellow Quang Ngai residents living and working in Ho Chi Minh City to savor the rich flavors of their hometown.

For tourism, there will be an exhibition with the theme "Quang Ngai - a hundred memories, a thousand affections" to introduce the land, people, and scenic landscapes of Quang Ngai (organized in collaboration with Quang Ngai Newspaper).

The highlight of the program is the cultural night with the theme "Singing with the Homeland," featuring the participation of many of today's most famous artists, scheduled to take place on the night of January 12, 2024, on the main stage of Dong Ho Garden.

"The Colors of Quang Ngai" not only represent nostalgic spaces but also contemporary slices of life for the Quang Ngai people currently making a living in Ho Chi Minh City. These spaces are unique, such as the famous hu tieu go (noodle soup), knife sharpening, broom making, bottle collecting, and porridge stalls.

The main purpose of the program is to create a healthy cultural space, serving Quang Ngai residents away from their hometown and connecting those with a loving heart for Quang Ngai.

This program also contributes practically to the implementation of Resolution No. 03-NQ/TU dated October 19, 2016, and Conclusion No. 635-KL/TU dated November 1, 2021, of the Provincial Party Committee of Quang Ngai regarding the continued implementation of Resolution No. 03-NQ/TU dated October 19, 2016, on building and developing the culture and people of Quang Ngai in response to the requirements of innovation, integration, and sustainable development.
