Message from the Chairman of THACO’s Board of Directors
In his speech at the New Year Production Kickoff Ceremony for the Year of the Snake 2025, Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of THACO’s Board of Directors, emphasized that 2025 marks the third and pivotal year in THACO's multi-industry strategy and its five-year plan (2023 – 2027). The company aims to become the leading multi-industry industrial corporation in the ASEAN region, ensuring sustainable development amid regional and global integration.
Chu Lai International Port is a Category 1 seaport under Vietnam's Master Plan for Seaport System Development for the 2021 – 2030 Period, with a Vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister. To expand the port in line with its scale and cargo throughput, the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province approved the mission outline and budget estimates for surveying and planning the development of Chu Lai Seaport until 2030.
With the goal of becoming a key trade hub and logistics center in the Central Highlands region, connecting Southern Laos and Northern Cambodia, on March 7, 2024, the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province issued an investment policy decision and approved an investor for the project to expand and upgrade Chu Lai Port (Tam Hiep Port Area) with a total investment of VND 1.59 trillion.

In Decision No. 1395/QD, the Vietnam Maritime Administration announced the opening of Berth No. 2 at Chu Lai Port, managed by Chu Lai International Seaport Company, to receive domestic and international ships for cargo handling and other maritime services.
The Berth No. 2 (50,000-ton Berth) construction project has been completed, adding 365 meters downstream, connecting to Berth No. 1, extending the total length of Chu Lai Port to 836 meters, with a water depth of -11.6 meters. The berth features a land-connected structure using steel sheet pile pipe foundation technology, applied for the first time in Vietnam. It can accommodate general cargo and container ships of up to 50,000 tons. Additionally, two STS gantry cranes (over VND 300 billion investment) and three RTG cranes (nearly VND 100 billion investment) have been installed, along with a fleet of specialized internal transportation vehicles. The synchronized investment in infrastructure and equipment enhances cargo handling capacity to nearly 100 containers per hour, three times higher than Berth No. 1.
On the first working day of the Year of the Snake 2025, over 300 containers of THACO AUTO products (THACO’s subsidiary in the automobile sector) were exported through Chu Lai Port to international markets, bringing confidence and expectations for a successful new year.

THACO INDUSTRIES Expands Manufacturing
On the same day, THACO also inaugurated automotive parts and components manufacturing plants and the THACO INDUSTRIES R&D Center.
According to the 2023 – 2027 plan, THACO INDUSTRIES continues expanding its portfolio of automotive parts and mechanical products. At the same time, the company is investing in and expanding automotive parts production zones, machinery manufacturing, and mechanical processing. It is also forming joint ventures and partnerships to establish a high-tech rubber and technical product manufacturing zone in Chu Lai. Additionally, THACO INDUSTRIES is expanding production in Northern and Southern Vietnam, operating companies in the U.S. and South Korea, and researching investments in assembly plants for key products to compete in export markets.
As part of its strategic implementation roadmap, in 2024, THACO INDUSTRIES will continue to invest in and upgrade the technology of its existing plants. It will also develop a large-scale R&D Center, organized along the value chain, from market research – product research – material research – design and simulation – prototype production – testing and fine-tuning.
Furthermore, the company is constructing next-generation parts and components manufacturing plants, integrating technologies from the U.S., Germany, Italy, and Japan. These factories will feature two-story architectural designs, ensuring functionality, industrial aesthetics, green spaces, optimized work environments, and efficient operating costs. The total project covers 8 hectares, with an investment value of over VND 2.5 trillion.
